A weekend of two halves

With the engine in the workshop after the 1st round the rush was on to get it repaired and back out for round 2. While Andrew set about repairing the bike. Thankfully with all the parts in stock the rebuild was done in good time, which left Andrew plenty of time to get it back and start building the bike.

Round 2 at Pembrey started with Friday practice. A sedate few sessions running in the bike, and checking everything over was the order of the day. After such a short time on the bike in Round 1 Andrew was still getting to grips with it, but some set up changes between the 2 rounds had helped him feel more comfortable.

Saturday morning and Andrew decided to enter 2 classes this weekend. The Blue Haze GPF 2 stroke race and the Yamaha Past Master.
With Blue Haze qualifying up 1st , Andrew qualified in a 3rd place to put it on the front row of the grid for race one.
YPM qulifiying Andrew managed 11th putting him on row 4.

GPF race one - Andrew finished second 3 seconds behind the leader.
YPM Race one - After a race long scrap, a 6th place finish was far higher then anyone had hoped, so far so good.
GPF race 2 - Andrew went one better and took the win this tie out, a great result for him and a 1st win with the MBD engine .
YPM race 2 - Another close forght race with a groupe of 5 riders with an eventual 7th place finsih. Again a lot higher then expected in this extremely competative class.

Sunday arrived and with no issues and the engine running strong, Andrew looked to improve on his previous days results. Race one for the Blue Haze and unfortunatley a collision with another rider put them both down, with both suffering injury {we wish a speedy recovery to both}
So after such a promisining saturday we are once again are left with an injured rider and very very battered bike this time. Unfortunatley due to Andrews Injury it means limitied time to get the bike repaired for the next round at Snetterton at the beggining of May.

But if we can take some positiives from the weekend it proved the engine was strong and fast, to give Andrew a chance against the more nimble TZR's. We will leave him now to work on the handling!
